Recording and Rehearsal Studios

Recording and Rehearsal Studios

Here at Guitar Lessons Plymouth, we love nothing more than when one of our own students starts producing their own music. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing the products of our own tuition. So as a gentle push in the right direction, we have compiled a list of Plymouth’s top recording studios, just in case one of you would like to hit the studio soon.

Momentum Studios is perfect for those looking to record on a budget, namely new bands who are looking to take their career in a more serious direction. Momentum charges £180/day or £20/hour, a very reasonable price for a recording studio of this calibre. Located at Old Newham Farm, Plympton, Plymouth PL7 5BL, nothing could be more inspirational for an aspiring folk singer than the picturesque situation of this Devon farmyard. The studio owns all of its own audio and recording equipment, so you don’t have to bother with lugging your amps (or even instruments) back and forth from the studio, which, believe me, saves a hell-of-a-lot of hassle.

Deep Blue Studio has played host to a number of famous recording artists, of which Joss Stone and The Days are just a couple. The high-end clients this studio has accommodated is reflected in its slightly higher prices - £35/hour and £200 - but I’m sure you’d agree this is far from unreasonable. This studio is situated right in the heart of Plymouth with fantastic transport links. Pop down to 8 Looe Street, Plymouth PL4 OEB today for a closer look.

Studio City Rooms is a small-scale operation, so it might come as a surprise to you that Studio City Rooms has recorded for a number of big artists such as UK ska-punk act King Blues and Black Cat Bone. Not only a recording studio, but Studio City can also be rented out as a rehearsal venue for a mere £10/hour. Even if you don’t own a guitar, this studio can accommodate your need; all equipment including instruments is available for use for free. This studio operates on a pay-per-track basis, with 4 tracks costing only £150. If you’re looking to create your first EP for under £200, this may be the studio for you.

Press Pack Studios is a high-end studio which literally has it all; world-class recording equipment, dazzling audio-visual packages and expert sound technicians. If you’re an established local band looking to conquer the Internet with a music video, consider this studio seriously because it offers music video packages, which start at £299. Of course, with such staggeringly brilliant equipment and services, you would expect to pay a little more, but Press Pack is not extortionate, with a day’s recording session costing £299. To have a closer look at what services they offer, take a quick glance at their website by following the picture link, where Press Pack offers examples of the brilliant work it has done with previous customers.
